Biografie

Athanasios was born in Viersen in 1992 and underwent his Bachelor studies at University of Applied Sciences in Krefeld. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in 2017 in cooperation with Fraunhofer UMSICHT in Oberhausen investigating the cross-linking of thermoplastic polyurethane with polylactide he moved to Heinrich Heine Universität in Düsseldorf, where he obtained his Master‘s degree under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Constantin Czekelius in 2019. His Master’s thesis comprised the total synthesis of trifluoroethylated deoxyhexoses. Since 2020, he is doctoral student at Bergische Universität in Wuppertal in the working group of Prof. Dr. Stefan Kirsch. His work focuses on highly selective oxidations with solid-supported hypervalent iodine catalysts.
